Lower Body Lift

Achieving significant weight loss is an incredible, life-changing milestone. Many patients find that after losing a substantial amount of weight, they are left with an excess of loose skin around their midsection, hips, and thighs. A lower body lift (belt lipectomy or 360 body lift) is a transformative procedure designed to simultaneously tighten the abdomen, lift the outer thighs, and elevate the buttocks. Removing this heavy, inelastic skin circumferentially will help finally reveal the beautifully contoured figure you have worked so hard to achieve!

Yes. We strongly recommend that you reach your goal weight and maintain it stably for at least 6 to 12 months before scheduling a lower body lift. If you continue to lose weight after the surgery, you may develop new areas of loose, hanging skin. If you regain a significant amount of weight, it can stretch your newly tightened abdominal muscles and skin, compromising your beautiful results.

While we completely understand the desire to finish your transformation as quickly as possible, a lower body lift is a major operation that typically takes 4 to 6 hours on its own. For your absolute safety, we generally do not recommend combining it with other major procedures, like a breast lift or an arm lift (brachioplasty), in a single operation. We typically stage these surgeries a few months apart to ensure your body can heal safely and comfortably.

A tummy tuck addresses the front of the abdomen. A lower body lift is a comprehensive 360-degree procedure that removes a continuous "belt" of skin around the entire waistline, flattening the stomach while simultaneously lifting the outer thighs and buttocks.

While the scar does go 360 degrees around your lower torso, Drs. Mahoney and Yeung meticulously plan the incision line so it sits as low as possible on your hips and lower back. It is designed to be completely hidden beneath standard underwear or bikini bottoms.

You will need full-time help at home for the first two weeks. Most patients require 3 to 4 weeks off from work to heal comfortably. You will be cleared to resume strenuous exercise and heavy lifting after 6 to 8 weeks.
